![]() We walked to the next property Liu Yun Ge Ke Zhan (a recently opened 28 room property) and we viewed several rooms before deciding on staying there in a twin bed room RMB 280. The room is a little tiny with attached bathroom and although the view is great, we decided it is not for us. We were approached by Sui Yun Chien Ke Zhan to stay with them and we viewed the property which is by the waterway. I have read that we need to pay for the entrance ticket but perhaps we were early and there were no sentry so we did not have to pay the all-purpose fee. A less than 10 mins walk along small alleys will bring you into Xitang old town and the canals. The taxi drop-off point is at the town square. Journey from Jiashan to Xitang takes 30 mins. ![]() Understand that for the legitimate taxis, they charged RMB 10 per head but will leave once they have secured 4 passengers. We took up the offer of one persistent private car owner to take us RMB 30 for the 2 of us. Upon exiting the Jiashan train station, there were at least 10 offers from taxi drivers/private car owners to bring us to Xitang. We travelled from Shanghai South train station on T7763 0859 hrs on Fri, 28 May and arrived Jiashan 0935 hrs.
